- Recreational Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Situational Counseling
- Homebound Education
- Family Therapy
- Independent Living Exercises
- Individual Counseling
- Treatment Planning
In addition to these services Excalibur also offers the following:
Token Economy Environment
The purpose of the token economy is to provide your child with a systematic way by which he can measure his success. In addition, the system fosters sound money management skills necessary for adult living. Money is earned through behavioral marks and extra chores. Money is lost for inappropriate behavior. The system provides incentive because your child will use the money he earns for outing privileges and level advancement. The system encourages your child to exhibit consistent behavior, prioritize his spending, and volunteer for extra chores to earn the things. This is a proven method that instills in your child ambition by rewarding his efforts in a real life practical way. The system is fair and each day goes over your child’s account to discuss purchases and upcoming outings.
Peer Court
Designed to provide insight into the judicial process. Members and staff examine the consequences of individual’s negative actions in an open forum. Members are encouraged to be fair and participate as any responsible citizen would. The opportunity allows your child to role-play as an adult and begin to think outside himself in an objective way. Peer court reinforces the rules and accepted levels of behavior.
Community Work
Through fund drives, charity work, and social activities we help your
child reconnect to the community he feels alienated from.
Entry Level Paid Employment
Employment experience is prearranged in connection with Youth Alliance of America. In a thrift store environment, your child will have the opportunity to earn money and experience real employment as well as interact with the public. The program is structured in a way to prevent negative repercussions. By providing early exposure to employment your child will learn responsibility and sound work ethics. Upon successful completion he will be allowed to seek simple part time employment elsewhere. As part of the program staff will assist him in seeking employment, filling applications, making follow-up calls, and providing transportation to and from work.
Community Participation
We allow your child to participate in community projects, church of his choice, social activities, even dating so long as he earns the privilege by demonstrating consistent civil and respectable behavior under or program guidelines. We hold him accountable to a high standard of "appropriate" conduct. Such activities or freedoms are employed to focus on his ability to self regulate behavior without continual reinforcement. When your child enters this phase of the torch program he will have demonstrated such abilities.
